Gilbarco Veeder-Root scoops 2024 APEA Milestone Award
Milton Keynes 14th November 2024 Gilbarco Veeder-Root, a global supplier of fuelling equipment and services, is honoured to receive the prestigious 2024 APEA Milestone Award. The award was announced at the APEA (The Association for Petroleum and Explosives Administration) Live 2024 Awards dinner which was held on the 14th November at the Marshall Arena MK Stadium in Milton Keynes. This award marks the significance of GVR’s 125 years of serving the industry in Europe.
Nicola Kidd UK Operations Leader at Gilbarco Veeder-Root, who collected the award at the APEA Awards ceremony said “Gilbarco Veeder-Root is delighted to receive this award, which marks a significant milestone in the proud 125-year history of the company’s operations in Europe.”
This accolade recognises the company’s longevity, enduring presence, and resilience within the fuelling equipment industry in Europe and beyond. In 1865, Charles Gilbert and John Barker based in Western Massachusetts, partnered to create the” Springfield Gas Machine”, which allowed buildings not located close to a city’s gas mains to be safely lit with gas lamps. In 1898 in Salzkotten, Germany, a chemist by the name of Ferdinand Henze and his business partner Jacob Cohn registered a patent for a safer, “explosion-proof” can. In 1899, the Factory for Explosion-Proof Containers, or “FEG”, was created. The GVR factory on Ferdinand-Henze-Straße has since been a cradle of innovation for European energy retail — crafting the first multi-product fuel dispenser for Aral AG in 1928 and advancing to fit outdoor payment terminals on ANGI hydrogen dispensers and Konect EV chargers in 2024.
